If you are a parent who is going through a divorce you are probably feeling a little concerned about the custody battle for your children. You want them to be a part of your everyday life, but you know that it isn’t going to be an easy road in achieving that. In order for you to get full custody of your kids you are going to have to be smart and resourceful and you are going to have to make choices that are only in the best interest of your child’s custody.
The first thing you need to do is make sure your life is in as perfect order as you can make it. Your spouse is in the process of making their life look as attractive to a judge. You must do the same. This means that you need to make sure you have a secure job and that your finances are in order. Of course the divorce has probably put your financials in a very interesting situation, it doesn’t mean that it has to be a bad spot. Get your debt taken care of, or at least under control and make sure that your income well exceeds your expenses. If you cannot support yourself, there is no way a judge will let you support your children fully.
The next thing is to get a living situation in order. Getting a child means having a stable home for them to be a part of. Without it there is very little that can be done by a court to assume you will give them the stability they need. If you are involved with someone, it is best not to move in with them unless there is an engagement or a marriage. Living with a boyfriend or girlfriend will only spell trouble at the hearings. Be smart enough to present the best possible version of yourself and you should find that getting your kids back is easier.
